Vertigo and dizziness can make walking, turning your head or simply moving through the day feel uncertain. At PT of the City, vestibular therapy is designed to identify what may be affecting your balance and help you feel steadier and more confident in movement.
Tell us what hurts. We handle the rest, including your insurance.

Takes about 30 seconds. No referral needed in New York.
Your sense of balance depends on your inner ear, vision and the way your body senses movement working together. When one part of that system is not working as it should, you may experience spinning, unsteadiness, motion sensitivity or a feeling that the ground is moving beneath you.
One common cause of brief episodes of spinning vertigo is BPPV, which happens when tiny crystals in the inner ear move out of place. Vestibular therapy can use positional testing to identify BPPV and specific repositioning maneuvers to help address it.
Other causes of dizziness, including vestibular weakness or symptoms following concussion, may require a different approach. Your evaluation helps determine what is contributing to your symptoms and which type of rehabilitation is most appropriate.

Vestibular symptoms can present in different ways, from brief spinning sensations to ongoing imbalance or sensitivity to movement. Treatment is tailored to the specific cause and how your symptoms are affecting your daily life.
Vestibular therapy starts by understanding why you feel dizzy or unsteady. Your treatment is then selected around the findings of your evaluation rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
Positional and balance testing helps identify whether your symptoms may be linked to BPPV, vestibular weakness or another issue that may need further medical assessment.
Treatment may include repositioning maneuvers for BPPV or graded gaze, habituation and balance exercises for other vestibular problems.
Balance and strengthening exercises can help improve stability and make everyday movement feel safer and more confident.

Getting started is straightforward. Your therapist will assess your symptoms and balance, explain what may be contributing to them and build a treatment plan around what you need.
A team member confirms your details, verifies your insurance, and finds a time that works, often the same week.
A licensed physical therapist assesses your movement, strength, and history to find the cause, not just the symptom.
You leave your first visit knowing what is going on and exactly what your treatment plan looks like.
You work with your therapist visit after visit, with progress you can see and measure.
PT of the City is in-network with most major insurance plans, around 45 in total, including Medicare and Medicaid. Share your plan details when you book and our team verifies your coverage before your first visit, so there are no surprises.
Plan participation can vary by clinic and policy. We confirm your exact coverage before you come in.
Vestibular symptoms can be unsettling, so clear explanations and consistent care matter. At PT of the City, your therapist works with you to understand what is happening and guide your rehabilitation step by step.
You work with the same licensed therapist from your first evaluation to your last visit, so nothing about your recovery gets lost between sessions.

It depends on the cause. BPPV often improves within a few visits of repositioning treatment, while dizziness from an inner-ear weakness or concussion typically improves gradually over weeks of rehabilitation. Your therapist will give you an honest timeline after your evaluation.
You can start with us; New York allows physical therapy without a referral. Your evaluation includes screening for causes that need medical attention, and if we find signs of one we will refer you promptly and share our findings.
In most cases, no. New York's Direct Access law lets you begin physical therapy without a physician referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days. We confirm the details for your specific insurance plan when you book.
We are in-network with most major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation, and no-fault. Share your details and we verify your coverage before your first visit.
For most patients, care is covered by insurance and you pay only your plan's copay, if any. We verify your benefits before your first visit and tell you exactly what to expect, with no surprise bills.
Your therapist performs a full hands-on evaluation of your movement, strength, and history, explains what is going on, and walks you through a personalized treatment plan. Bring your insurance card and comfortable clothing.
Most visits run 40 to 60 minutes. The number of visits depends on your condition and goals; your therapist gives you a clear plan and timeline at your evaluation and updates it as you progress.
Share a few details and our team will call you back to verify your insurance and schedule your vestibular evaluation, usually within one business day.
